Foreman Mechanic

Duties
- Schedule, coordinate, and direct garage personnel for all vehicle maintenance and repairs both in-shop and field.
- Decide on and manage the subcontracting of vehicle repairs to commercial facilities ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain stockroom procedures and record-keeping to required standards.
- Plan and prioritize vehicle servicing in collaboration with user departments.
- Monitor production levels and work quality standards.
- Keep records updated in systems like AMIS, Word, Excel, and Email.
- Ensure safety compliance for employees and equipment.
- Conduct safety inspections and manage the fleet compound and fuel card assignments.
- Oversee garage operating expenses and maintain the tool inventory.
- Perform minor and major repairs and upkeep on various vehicles and equipment.
- Utilize electric and welding tools for repairs.
- Work in various settings including in-shop, outdoors, and at field locations.
Employment Requirements
- Self-starter with leadership skills for directing garage staff.
- Experience in interacting with internal customers and suppliers effectively.
- Conduct professional, courteous, and respectful business on a daily basis.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with new servicing techniques, maintenance procedures, and stockroom operations.
- Valid Provincial Department of Labor Journeyman Certificate in Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport Repair.
- Additional mechanic certifications are advantageous.
- Ability to certify company equipment per standards.
- Proficient in updating records using various computer systems.
- Must pass several mechanical and medical exams for qualification.
- Valid driver's license required; additional endorsements considered an asset.
Working Conditions
- Primarily a shop environment with necessary outside and fieldwork.
- Variable shifts based on vehicle availability.
- Possible extended stays away from home for fieldwork.
