Brakes Plus Limited, a trusted auto repair shop in Orangeville, Ontario, is looking for a qualified mechanic/technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate has at least three years of hands-on experience, strong diagnostic analysis skills, and a commitment to providing quality work to our customers.
Job Summary
You will diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of vehicles, with a focus on brake systems, while contributing to a positive customer experience and a safe, organized work environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair brake systems, including hydraulic components, ABS, and braking hardware.
- Perform general automotive repairs and maintenance (engine, electrical, suspension, steering, driving, and weekly maintenance tasks).
- Conduct safety inspections and road tests to verify repairs and ensure compliance with road safety standards.
- Use diagnostic tools, scanners, wiring diagrams, and service manuals to identify issues and develop effective repair plans.
- Clearly communicate results and recommendations to customers and team members; prepare clear service notes for records.
- Maintain accurate service records, parts usage, and billing documentation.
- Keep the workspace clean, safe, and organized; adhere to all safety protocols and workshop policies.
- Collaborate with the team to prioritize workload and deliver excellent customer service.
- Assist with parts ordering and inventory control as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of practical experience as a mechanic/technician.
- Valid driver's license in Ontario.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills; proficiency with diagnostic tools and service manuals.
- In-depth knowledge of brake systems, electrical systems, suspension/steering, and general engine mechanics.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and interpret service procedures.
- Personal tools preferred but not mandatory.
- Red Seal certification or eligibility; an asset.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced shop.
- Comfortable with basic computer skills and documentation.
