About the role
West-Can Seal Coating Inc. is hiring a Transport Truck Trailer Mechanic in Didsbury, Alberta.
This green job involves tasks and responsibilities contributing to environmental preservation and helping Canada achieve its net-zero target. Work must be completed on-site in a dusty, noisy outdoor workshop or field location with possible odours. Relocation costs are not covered; candidate must be willing to relocate.
Responsibilities
- Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems
- Confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit
- Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
- Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems
- Repair or replace mechanical units or components
- Perform scheduled maintenance service
- Test and adjust units to specifications
- Coach and instruct apprentices
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
- Perform other routine maintenance
- Keep maintenance reports and documentation
- Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
- Service attachments and working tools
- Verify and repair emission control systems
- Welding experience
- Inspect commercial vehicles for compliance with regulations on load restrictions, hazardous materials transportation, and public safety
- Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications
- Perform repair work on heavy trucks
Requirements
- Other trades certificate or diploma
- Truck and Transport Mechanic Trade Certification
- First Aid Certificate
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
- No experience required; training provided
- Own transportation, vehicle and valid driver's licence required
- Criminal record check, driving record check, and drug test
Experience and specializations include:
- Commercial vehicles inspection
- Engine repair, diesel engines, diagnostics
- Brake, hydraulic, fuel, emission, ignition, and electrical systems
- Drive train components and truck-trailer repair
- HVAC system
- Diesel engine major repairs or overhaul
- Installation and alignment of engines and machinery
- Fuel injection, lubrication, cooling, exhaust systems
- Mechanical maintenance, wheel suspension and steering, mechanical and hydraulic transmissions
- Highway vehicle tires and wheels, differentials
Work conditions:
- Fast-paced environment
- Hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, manual dexterity
- Standing for extended periods
- Handling heavy loads up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
- Bending, crouching, kneeling
Personal qualities:
- Accurate, dependable, good oral and written communication
- Flexibility, good judgement, reliability, team player, punctuality
Own tools and steel-toed safety boots required.
