About
The story of Boisvert Chevrolet Buick GMC began in 1983. Guy Boisvert knocked on the door of General Motors and submitted his application for the Blainville territory, which had been vacant since the recession of 1980. He obtained a loan from Motors Holding, a GM financing division to assist new dealerships. "It was on crates of Coca-Cola that the final official documents were signed," emphasizes Mr. Boisvert. Without delay, he purchased the property of an old Chrysler dealership, and on October 4, the first new cars (Pontiac 6000, Buick Skylark, and the famous Pontiac Acadian) arrived!
At the opening, there were 14 employees, including Jean-Claude Boies, who then held the position of assistant sales manager. Although their sales forecast was 600 new vehicles, 1108 new vehicles were delivered in 1985, achieving a performance of 185%, just two years after the opening. Growth continued for several years.
In 1986, a reception area for after-sales service and a dedicated space for used cars were constructed.
In 1988, in light of this significant growth, Guy Boisvert partnered with Jean-Claude Boies, forming the management team of the company. A new building was then added to the impressive dealership to house the body shop. The mechanical workshop was established in its previously vacant space.
In 1993, the showroom expanded, and the façade was refreshed to GM's standards, the "Winning Image."
In 1998, Jean-Claude Boies was appointed Vice President and General Manager, and a new truck center was created to sell and service GM's medium trucks W and Top Kick, as well as provide mechanical service for motorized recreational vehicles.
On March 27, 2000, a major fire destroyed the main building. The outcome of this disaster demonstrated how loyal and united our team is. Despite this misfortune, sales levels were maintained, and a new building was erected in record time. By November, the entire team moved into the new dealership! "In hindsight, we like to say we experienced the greatest fire sale in history!" Mr. Boies humorously remarks.
"In 2009, a significant milestone, we acquired Sainte-Thérèse Auto and, in doing so, the Chevrolet banner. This acquisition allowed us to survive the disappearance of Pontiac and avoid forced closure due to GM's reorganization in 2010 following the major financial crisis.
Thus, we became Boisvert Chevrolet Buick GMC," asserts Mr. Boisvert. In 2011, Boisvert Isuzu was added to the dealership for the sale and maintenance of trucks following GM's abandonment of the medium truck lineup.
In 2012, the façade was redone with the new Chevrolet image. In 2013, André Trottier partnered with Messrs. Boisvert and Boies and became the General Manager. The year 2019 marked an important turning point in the ownership of Boisvert. A new group of shareholders acquired the dealership, namely, Le Groupe Monahan-Desautels.
It consists of Ray Monahan, Roger Desautels III, Guy Caouette, and Jennifer Monahan. Messrs. Stéphane Martel and Kevin Boies, who were already part of the Boisvert Chevrolet banner, were chosen as new partners to ensure continuity in the excellence of customer experience.
"Today, we are proud to have a team of over 120 employees and to be recognized among the 'leaders' of the GM dealership network in Quebec for our sales of new vehicles, certified used vehicles, our fleet division, and customer satisfaction. Since 1983, our goal has always been and will remain to serve our customers with honesty and respect. We are convinced that the Groupe Monahan-Desautels will rise to the challenge brilliantly," add Mr. Guy Boisvert and Mr. Jean-Claude Boies.
