Established in 1967, ILAGIISAQ-FCNQ is part of a group of 14 cooperatives that are members of the Inuit communities located along the shores of Hudson Bay and Ungava in Nunavik. Its mission is to provide the cooperative movement in Nunavik with the means to effectively ensure its growth by offering the necessary services to achieve its goal – Atautsikut/Together – working for collective progress without leaving anyone behind! Its creation has greatly influenced the social, economic, and political development of Nunavik. Strongly rooted in the territory, these cooperatives significantly contribute to the vitality of the communities they serve and offer a wide range of services: retail activities, distribution of petroleum products, hospitality, real estate, cable distribution, adventure tourism, catering, and conference centers, as well as marketing Inuit art. They are managed exclusively by Inuit and Cree staff.

The FCNQ employs nearly 1,000 employees during the peak season and has a significant fleet of various vehicles (approximately 365) that are distributed across the different villages in Nunavik. The department serves not only the cooperatives but also various client businesses in terms of purchasing, reselling, and vehicle maintenance.
