BRUNELLE A Family Story

The story begins with Félix Brunelle over 100 years ago, a carrier and horse-drawn carriage maker. However, the evolution of the automobile encourages Félix to become a mechanic. Inventive, he designs a winter automobile in the late 1910s equipped with twin rear wheels and two runners in front to support the engine. The vehicle, which could accommodate up to four passengers, unfortunately never made it to the showrooms.

A First Generation Transition

Irénée and Édouard, the two sons of Félix Brunelle, start working for their father in the early 1920s. In 1923, the two men leave their father's business to launch Dominion Car Depot, their used vehicle and tire sales company. The establishment does not last long, as its roof collapses under the weight of the snow. The two businessmen then decide to relocate under a new name and rename it Garage Saint-Eustache Limited. They sell various brands such as Auburn, Buick, and Ford, as well as the very popular Ford tractors of the time until 1928. However, the automobile manufacturers require them to choose only one brand, and Irénée and Édouard quickly decide on Ford. Following the death of his brother, Édouard, Irénée continues to operate the garage alone. Known for his tractor demonstrations, he has more than a few tricks up his sleeve. Irénée, also known by the nickname CHARLOT, is passionate about airplanes and boats. It is said that he once performed an astonishing feat by flying between the two spires of the church in Saint-Eustache.

The Third and Fourth Generations of Brunelle

Irénée passes away in 1962. His two sons, André and Jean-Claude, help run the business until 1989. Six years earlier, Pierre, André's son and the current owner of BRUNELLE FORD, takes his first steps inside the family business. In 2003, Brunelle Ford moves from Arthur-Sauvé Boulevard to 500 Dubois Street to increase its visibility. Today, the fifth generation joins the dealership. Following in his father's footsteps, Charles-Antoine Brunelle will be the worthy successor of the Brunelle Family.
