About the role

Canadian Tire – Findlay Creek / Leitrim is looking for an experienced 310S Licensed Automotive Service Technician / Red Seal Mechanic who knows how to diagnose vehicles, produce quality work and get the job done. Canadian Tire Findlay Creek – Leitrim is building a strong automotive operation and is looking for a technician who wants to work, produce and be paid accordingly.

310S Licensed Automotive Service Technician / Service Technician / Red Seal
Canadian Tire – Findlay Creek / Leitrim – ext 231
4776 Bank Street, Ottawa, ON

“We’re looking for an average technician.”

Compensation: $30–$41/HR straight time or unit-based pay. Compensation structure is negotiable based on preference, experience and productivity.

Your compensation package will be discussed based on your experience, diagnostic ability, productivity, skill level, certifications and overall value to the shop. If you’re a strong producer and prefer a unit-based structure, we’re open to building a compensation plan that rewards performance.

This role is for a tech who can produce. We want someone who can confidently take a vehicle from customer concern → diagnosis → estimate → repair → quality control → completed vehicle. You should be comfortable working independently and handling a wide range of automotive repairs. We value technicians who can diagnose accurately, work efficiently, communicate properly and stand behind their repairs.

What you’ll be working on

You’ll have the opportunity to perform:

  • Vehicle diagnostics
  • Check-engine-light and drivability diagnosis
  • Electrical diagnosis and repair
  • No-start / crank-no-start diagnosis
  • Brake diagnosis and complete brake repairs
  • Steering and suspension
  • Wheel bearings and hub assemblies
  • Cooling-system diagnosis and repair
  • Engine performance concerns
  • Charging and starting systems
  • Battery, starter and alternator diagnosis
  • HVAC diagnosis and repair
  • Exhaust repairs
  • Tire and wheel diagnosis
  • Vibration and noise diagnosis
  • Alignments
  • Preventive maintenance
  • Manufacturer-recommended maintenance
  • Safety inspections
  • General mechanical repair

If you can diagnose it and repair it properly, we want to talk to you. Being able to replace components is only part of the job. The technician we want understands why the component failed.

You should be comfortable using:

  • Professional scan tools
  • Live data
  • Wiring diagrams
  • Multimeters
  • Diagnostic procedures
  • Technical service information
  • Repair specifications
  • Vehicle inspection systems
  • Alignment and shop equipment

We want someone who can think through a problem instead of automatically throwing parts at it.

Compensation options

Option 1 — Straight time

  • $30–$41/hour, depending on experience, qualifications and overall skill level.

Option 2 — Unit-based / performance pay

  • Negotiated individually.
  • If you consistently produce strong hours, we’re willing to discuss a compensation structure designed around production.
  • Strong technicians should have the opportunity to earn like strong technicians.

We understand that strong technicians want to be compensated for what they bring to the shop. That’s why we’re offering flexibility.

What we expect from you

We provide the opportunity. We expect you to bring the standards. That means:

  • Diagnose accurately. Don’t guess.
  • Document properly. Your Service Advisor and customer should understand what you found.
  • Inspect thoroughly. Don’t overlook legitimate safety and maintenance concerns.
  • Produce efficiently. Quality matters, but so does productivity.
  • Comebacks matter. Do the repair correctly the first time.
  • Communicate. If something changes, speak up.
  • Take ownership. Treat the vehicle you’re working on as your responsibility.

Service Advisor & Parts support

A productive technician needs a strong team around them. Our goal is to keep technicians working on vehicles—not standing around chasing parts, authorizations or customers.

Our Service and Parts team works to support technicians with:

  • Repair Orders → Customer Authorization → Parts Sourcing → Estimates → Scheduling → Customer Communication

You focus on diagnosing and repairing vehicles properly.

Who we want to build with us

This position is ideal for an experienced technician who wants:

  • A busy automotive environment
  • Competitive compensation
  • Straight-time or production-based options
  • Consistent repair opportunities
  • A shop that values productivity
  • Parts and Service Advisor support
  • Career stability
  • Opportunities to expand their diagnostic abilities
  • Recognition for strong performance
  • A team that wants to grow the automotive business

Tired of being underpaid for what you produce? If you’re a licensed technician producing strong hours, capable of diagnosing difficult vehicles and tired of being treated like every technician has the same value, we’re interested in having a conversation. Your experience matters. Your productivity matters. Your diagnostic ability matters. And your compensation should reflect it.

Come build. Come produce. Get paid for the value you bring.

Job type: Full-time
Straight-time pay: $30.00–$41.00/hour
