Horizon Group, based in Brossard, Quebec, is looking for an experienced Vehicle Buyer / Vehicle Appraiser to join our dynamic fleet acquisition and management team. You will contribute to optimizing vehicle acquisition and rigorously evaluating their value to support our profitability and quality objectives.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage the entire vehicle purchasing process, including prospecting, negotiation, history verification, and selecting the best suppliers based on budget and operational needs.
- Assess the technical condition and history of used vehicles for purchase, conduct or supervise inspections, and estimate their market value.
- Negotiate purchase and financing/leverage terms, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with operational, financing, and inventory management departments to ensure an efficient inventory flow and optimal rotation.
- Prepare appraisal reports and provide clear, documented recommendations to management.
- Monitor market trends, analyze total cost of ownership, and recommend cost-effective purchasing strategies.
- Ensure compliance with standards and maintain accurate documentation.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in vehicle purchasing and/or vehicle appraisal; experience in automotive or fleet management is an asset.
- Knowledge of the Quebec automotive market and purchasing and sales practices.
- Ability to assess used vehicles, interpret inspection reports, and estimate market value.
- Excellent negotiation, financial analysis, and supplier management skills; results-oriented with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in French; operational English is desired.
- Valid driver's license and availability to work weekends as needed by the department.
- Relevant training (e.g., technical, business, administration) or equivalent; certification in vehicle appraisal is a plus.
