Job Description
Our client, a major player in the automotive sector, is seeking a Controller for a confidential position based in Châteauguay, Quebec. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of relevant experience in financial control and accounting within a manufacturing environment and is ready to take on a key role within a dynamic team. Full-time position.
Main Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting cycles (bookkeeping, accounts receivable and payable, bank reconciliations) and ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
- Prepare and present financial statements compliant with IFRS/GAAP standards, perform performance analysis, and generate reports for management.
- Lead, train, and develop the accounting team; set priorities and ensure sustained productivity.
- Manage budget control, variance analysis, forecasts, and short- and medium-term financial planning processes.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, financial policies, and internal audit procedures; lead process optimization and cost accounting projects (standard costs, full costing).
- Oversee cash flow management, cash flow projections, and relationships with financial institutions.
- Collaborate with other departments (production, purchasing, logistics) to optimize costs and support continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Act as contact during external audits and ensure the preparation of required documents and appropriate responses.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent is an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in financial control/accounting, ideally in the manufacturing and/or automotive industry.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP standards, mastery of cost accounting, standard costs, and budget analysis.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and analytics tools (advanced Excel; ideally BI).
- Proven analytical skills, high integrity and discretion; strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Good communication skills in French; operational English is an asset.
- Team spirit, results-oriented, and ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
