Job Description
Honda Saint-Jean, a dealership located in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, is looking for an experienced Controller to support the financial management of an operation handling approximately 800 vehicles annually.
Job Description Reporting to the financial management team, you will oversee financial control, data accuracy, and reporting, in close collaboration with operational teams. You ensure compliance with standards and deadlines while supporting the sustainable growth of the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the monthly and annual closing, analyze results, and prepare reports for management and Honda Canada.
- Manage the complete accounting cycle, reconciliations, accounts, and financial statements according to ASPE/GAAP standards.
- Control and value inventory of vehicles and parts, monitor margins, costs, and stock turnover; collaborate with Sales and Operations teams.
- Develop annual budgets, perform forecasts, analyze variances, and propose corrective actions and improvement opportunities.
- Implement and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and policies; coordinate internal and external audits.
- Supervise, if necessary, a small accounting team and coordinate with external partners (accounting experts, suppliers).
- Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory obligations, and maintain the integrity of financial and operational data.
- Work closely with Sales, Parts, and Service departments to ensure the accuracy of financial and operational information.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA designation is an asset.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in financial control/management control, ideally in the automotive or retail sector.
- Strong knowledge of ASPE/GAAP accounting principles and dealership-related tax regulations.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and accounting tools, as well as advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas).
- Sharp analytical skills, rigor, integrity, and attention to detail; good at managing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; fluency in spoken and written French; English is an asset.
