Job Description

About the role

As the inaugural Executive Director of a new academic primary care organization, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to build and launch an interprofessional team-based primary care clinic for communities in Western York Region. The role focuses on expanding access to comprehensive, connected primary care, advancing patient attachment, and supporting education, research, and innovation. Following government approval, the organization is expected to begin welcoming patients in January 2027 and will serve rapidly growing communities including Vaughan, Richmond Hill, and King.

The Executive Director will report to the organization's Board of Directors and translate an ambitious vision into action by building the team, infrastructure, partnerships, and operating environment required for start-up and phased growth. Success in this role will depend on establishing trusted relationships across a complex, evolving health system, including partnerships with physicians, regional health system stakeholders, community organizations, and academic partners to support the organization's teaching and research mandate.

  • Operationalize strategic priorities in alignment with relevant system partners.
  • Support the Board through reporting, performance oversight, and risk management.
  • Oversee clinical operations to ensure delivery of high-quality, team-based, patient-centred care.
  • Lead workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and retention of physicians and interprofessional staff.
  • Manage and account for organizational finances.
  • Build and maintain partnerships to strengthen integration across the continuum of care.
