Air Canada is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill a full-time permanent position as a Ground Equipment Maintenance Mechanic.

Location: Montreal, QC, Canada (On-site)
Starting Salary: $50.27/hour
Service: North American Airports
Category: Unionized (IAMAW)
Shift Premium: Night - $2.50 for each hour worked between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.

The Ground Equipment Maintenance Specialist must:

• Ensure preventive maintenance and repairs are performed safely on various types of equipment used in ground operations at airports, in compliance with applicable regulations and codes.
• Have good knowledge of powertrains and diesel or gasoline engines. Practical knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems, metal fabrication, and welding is an asset.
• Be capable of understanding various troubleshooting diagrams and proficient in computers and diagnostic tools.
• Possess teamwork spirit and skills in written and oral communication; be customer-focused and able to work in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Hold a CPA competency card: mechanic at level 1, 2, or 3
• At least one (1) year of hands-on experience in the trade.
• Pass the pre-employment qualification exam.
• High school diploma.
• Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to support the overall success of the team in a fast-paced environment.
• Employees in this critical safety position must meet Air Canada's medical requirements to be eligible. Candidates will undergo a medical assessment, including drug and alcohol testing, and must not be under the influence of intoxicating substances.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain all transportation safety permits and other applicable certifications. Please refer to Transport Canada’s website for more details.
• Candidates must be eligible to work in the relevant country at the time of the job offer and are responsible for obtaining necessary work permits, visas, or other authorizations. Proof of eligibility must be provided before the start date.

Assets

• Interprovincial qualification (Red Seal)
• Related trade certificates or licenses such as: advanced fuel injection and diesel engine tuning, air conditioning and refrigeration, and automobile inspection.
• Experience in maintaining mobile equipment groups (generators), air conditioners (up to 110 tons), pneumatic groups (compressors up to 250 ft3/min), but experience with agricultural or heavy equipment maintenance will also be considered.
