Position: Bus Mechanic / Technician

Norquay Mystic Ridge Ltd. is seeking a Bus Mechanic / Technician with skills to join our mountain maintenance team in Banff, Alberta. This position is essential for maintaining a reliable fleet of transportation buses and support vehicles that keep Norquay running smoothly for guests and staff throughout the season and beyond. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on the fleet of buses and support vehicles on-site, including diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, steering, suspension, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose problems using onboard diagnostics and service manuals; identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Conduct thorough safety inspections, ensure compliance with regulations, and maintain Transport Canada and Alberta requirements.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records, log parts usage, and manage service interval scheduling; order parts as needed.
  • Respond to breakdowns or emergencies in the mountains with a focus on minimizing downtime and restoring operations quickly.
  • Maintain a well-organized and safe workshop; care for tools and equipment; support winter preparations and seasonal tasks as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Transport and Operations teams to coordinate maintenance planning and downtime, ensuring minimal impact on guest services.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of practical experience as a bus mechanic, tour bus mechanic, or heavy vehicle mechanic; fleet maintenance experience in a resort or transportation environment is preferred.
  • Automotive service technician training; Red Seal certification is an advantage.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with solid knowledge of diesel engines, brake systems, electrical/electronic systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools, service manuals, and reading mechanical blueprints.
  • Valid driver’s license (Alberta) with the ability to obtain the necessary certifications to drive buses, if applicable.
  • Ability to work outdoors in cold weather and physically capable of lifting heavy parts; strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills; reliable, punctual, and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible availability, including afternoons, weekends, and shifts during peak seasons or on-call hours.

Fuel injection diagnostic and repair (gas)
Hybrid and electric vehicle diagnostic and repair
Hydraulic system diagnostic and repair
Oil and filter change
Programming ECM - PCM - ECU
Suspension and steering repair
Transmission diagnostic and repair
