Auto Montreal, a reputable auto dealership based in Lachine, Quebec, with more than a decade of experience helping customers across Canada find the ideal vehicle, is expanding from an outsourcing model to an in-house mechanic team. We are seeking our first Mechanic / Technician to inspect all vehicles and prepare cars as needed. We’re looking for an independent professional who can effectively manage time without constant supervision and thrive in a young, dynamic team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of incoming inventory to identify safety, mechanical, and cosmetic issues.
  • Diagnose, repair, and service mechanical, electrical, and safety systems as required.
  • Perform routine maintenance (oil changes, brake services, tire rotations, fluid checks, battery tests, etc.).
  • Prepare vehicles for sale or delivery, including minor repairs, detailing, safety checks, test drives, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and update vehicle status in the inventory system.
  • Manage time effectively and work with minimal supervision to meet deadlines.
  • Keep the shop organized and safe; maintain tools and workspace in good condition.
  • Collaborate with sales and service teams to ensure vehicle readiness and timely delivery.
  • Support the transition to in-house operations by providing feedback on processes and equipment needs.
  • Stay current with manufacturer service bulletins and best practices; participate in ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on automotive repair experience; completion of automotive trade school or equivalent is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of automotive systems (engine, drivetrain, brakes, electrical, suspension).
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and produce high-quality work with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and dependable.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Proficiency with standard hand tools and diagnostic equipment; ability to read repair manuals and schematics.
  • Strong communication skills; customer-focused when interacting with team members.
  • Proficiency in English; French is considered a strong asset.
