Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineering Body-in-White (BIW) Process Supervisor will lead the development and implementation of automatic process equipment, tools, and related facilities for new model assembly production. This role includes overseeing direct reports, managing supplier relationships, and driving continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and equipment. The aim is to meet cost and timing requirements while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management:

  • Supervise a team of 2-3 manufacturing process engineers, providing coaching and support.
  • Set clear, achievable goals and help direct reports reach them.
  • Evaluate employee performance, offering feedback and development opportunities.

Supplier and Vendor Management:

  • Manage relationships with 10-15 suppliers/vendors, including Mino Auto, Comul, and VDL.
  • Oversee supplier performance and resolve equipment or tooling issues.

Process Development and Implementation:

  • Lead the development of BIW automatic process equipment, tools, and facilities for new model assembly.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering, Vehicle Assembly, Quality, and other departments to understand vehicle components and subsystems.
  • Create process sheets, assembly layouts, installation tooling, and define special manufacturing requirements.
  • Conduct Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (PFMEA) for new and critical processes.

Installation and Operations:

  • Manage the installation of new equipment and processes, ensuring they meet schedule and quality standards.
  • Monitor line efficiency, machine capability, and overall process performance.
  • Address and resolve issues during and after installation.
  • Enhance line balancing and optimize production processes.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve process and equipment issues.
  • Initiate continuous improvement actions to enhance process efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Effectively track and manage time and resources to meet project deadlines.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in program/project management within automotive manufacturing.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Catia (preferably with experience in products designed in France and Italy).
  • Strong understanding of BIW assembly processes, equipment, and tooling.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
