Job Description:
Used Inventory Manager
On a daily basis, the manager must:
- With the assistance of the buyer and the desk, act as the primary evaluator of the trade-in
- Monitor the vehicle trade-in rate (look to book) to maintain and exceed a rate of 50% for other brands and 60% for the house brand
- With the help of the buyer, purchase external vehicles for sale
- Aim for a quick turnover of inventory; target set at 10 times per year (36 days)
- Remove from inventory any vehicle over 90 days old, unless otherwise specified by management
- Keep the inventory record in the shared file “sales sheet”
- With the help of the buyer and secretary, manage the storage of incoming vehicles
- With the assistance of the buyer and F&I, manage the registration certificates of incoming vehicles and tools
- Coordinate the reconditioning of vehicles and authorization of work
- Organize the market launch on the same day each vehicle arrives (1 hour)
- Be the primary person responsible for taking photos
- Create and monitor the descriptions to ensure that each listing is optimized for Google
- Update the prices of 100% of the inventory twice a week, every Tuesday and Thursday
- Work with the floor manager to track the progress of listed vehicles to gauge interest levels
- With the help of the representatives, manage the outdoor lot and showroom spaces
- Be responsible for the wholesale and billing of these
- Keep wholesale at a maximum of 20% of total sales volume
- Manage the returns to the workshop of sold and delivered vehicles (vehicle only*)
- Welcome and follow up with walk-in customers who only want to sell their car
- Monitor opportunities for trade-in exchanges with representatives, follow up on each evaluation to maximize the trade-in rate
- Any other tasks deemed necessary for the progress of the department
*Client handling is the responsibility of the floor managers.
