Job Summary

Under the responsibility of the service manager, the technician's primary role will be to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain the electrical systems of automobiles.

MAIN FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform repair work on vehicles.
  • Diagnose issues using specialized tools such as vehicle scanners, multimeters, and oscilloscopes to identify electrical and electronic problems in vehicles.
  • Test electrical circuits, sensors, actuators, and electronic modules to determine the source of faults and malfunctions.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on electrical systems, such as regular battery and electrical connection checks.
  • Perform software and system updates.
  • You will need to meticulously document the diagnostics performed, repairs needed, and parts used.
  • Determine vehicle defects based on customer complaints and your own inspection.
  • Communicate with the parts department to obtain necessary parts.
  • Retain and label parts if the work is under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Inspect the assigned vehicle to determine if additional safety and maintenance work is needed.
  • Carry out inspections and road tests of newly delivered vehicles to detect any obvious damage or missing elements and assess driving functions.
  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Test drive the vehicle, if necessary.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of customer vehicles and promptly inform the service advisor of any incident that may have altered the appearance or condition of a vehicle.
  • Perform any other related tasks.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in Automotive Mechanics (1,800 hours).
  • Experience with electric vehicles is an asset.
  • Previous experience with Volvo is an asset.
  • Skills Card from the Joint Committee of the Automotive Service Industry (CPA).
  • Knowledge of CDK is an asset.
  • Bilingualism.
  • Valid driver's license.
