We are looking for an experienced mechanic to diagnose, repair, and service the Menzies fleet of vehicles and other related equipment in accordance with Company and manufacturers’ work specifications, ensuring safe work practices and operating procedures are adhered to.
Responsibilities
- Receive work orders and obtain the necessary tools required for the repair.
- Transport vehicles to be repaired by driving, towing, or pushing them into service bays.
- Vehicles may include tugs, forklifts, pay loaders, fuel trucks, and other airport vehicles.
- Inspect parts and/or motor vehicles to identify defective or broken parts.
- Repair diesel engines, hydraulic, electric, and mechanical systems.
- Obtain replacement parts, install them, and/or make necessary repairs.
- Repairs may require rebuilding assemblies or systems.
- Confer with the Supervisor for complex repairs that require direction or approval for ordering parts.
- Complete work orders and provide status updates on any open work orders.
- Ensure safe and secure operations in accordance with the highest possible standards of health, safety, security, and all government statutory requirements.
- Additional duties may include changing batteries, tires, oil, and performing other minor repairs.
Requirements
- Qualified mechanic with 310T and a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience.
- Knowledge of heavy-duty diesel/automotive equipment.
- Experience with troubleshooting and repair of complex hydraulic and electrical systems required.
- Must have own tools and be able to operate various power and hand tools safely.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must be flexible to work all hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by operational requirements.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs., and comfortable with bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling various items.
- Clean driving record with a certified copy of Drivers Abstract.
- Must be able to obtain and hold all required security clearances.
- This is a unionized position.
