About the role
Calypso's Plant & Equipment Mechanics are responsible for the upkeep and repairs of equipment and infrastructure including attractions and buildings. Mechanics play a key role in ensuring the overall upkeep of grounds, attractions, buildings, and equipment to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for guests.
Responsibilities
- Assemble & install mechanical equipment
- Troubleshoot, repair or replace machinery parts
- Report to assigned work area on time and in compliance with safety requirements
- Respond to work orders for repairs/preventative maintenance daily as assigned
- Inspect and maintain rides and attractions to ensure they meet safety and operational standards
- Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical components (pumps & motors)
- Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to safety standards and regulations
- Perform repairs on buildings, equipment, and infrastructure as needed
Environmental conditions
- Position is outdoors the majority of the time
- Frequent work in heat and sun
- Must be comfortable working at heights and have knowledge of protective equipment (employer will train and certify)
- Occasional work in or around water, water treatment chemicals, fumes/odors
Physical demands
- Able to stand or walk for long periods throughout the day
- Fit and able to climb stairs on 9 story towers
- Able to work outdoors in park locations
- Requires manual and bi-manual dexterity, fine and gross motor skills, eye/hand coordination, near vision, hearing and speech
- Occasional kneeling and bending
- Occasional walking, reaching above shoulder, pushing and pulling
- Occasional lifts and carries up to 50 pounds
Requirements
- Able to assemble mechanical equipment
- Previous certification with TSSA is an asset; employer will train and certify the right candidate
- Equipment & machinery experience in conveyor, fans, blowers & hydraulics
- Experience with water pumping equipment and motors
- Able to troubleshoot bearings, seals and packing
- Experience with Gel-coat or surface fiberglass work is an asset
- Knowledge of structural systems
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Familiarity with safety regulations and protocols
- Organized and detail oriented
