Position Overview

The successful candidate will perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on diesel-powered heavy trucks, tractors, semi-trailers, and related equipment. Experience servicing and repairing Hydrovac and Straight-vac trucks is essential.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: 310T Truck & Trailer Mechanic

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
• Perform preventative, predictive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance to ensure equipment remains safe and reliable.
• Diagnose mechanical and electronic issues using inspections, road testing, and diagnostic tools.
• Complete repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications, applicable regulations, and safety standards.
• Interpret work orders, technical manuals, and repair procedures.
• Install, modify, repair, or replace vehicle components and systems as required.
• Conduct inspections and quick checks to identify additional repair needs or potential equipment issues.
• Communicate repair recommendations and maintenance concerns to management.
• Assist with parts inventory management and ordering replacement parts and supplies.
• Accurately complete work orders, maintenance reports, and time records.
• Test repaired equipment to verify proper operation and compliance with safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements: 310T Truck & Trailer Mechanic

• Valid 310T Truck and Coach Technician licence.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the medium- or heavy-duty truck or automotive industry.
• Hands-on experience servicing and repairing Hydrovac and Straight-vac trucks is required.
• Strong mechanical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
• Solid technical knowledge of heavy-duty vehicles, diesel engines, and related systems.
• Own a complete set of heavy-duty mechanic tools.
• Strong commitment to equipment safety and quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage high workloads and stressful situations.
• Ability to guide and mentor apprentices.
• Flexibility to work alternate shifts when required to provide vacation or sick-day coverage.

Working Conditions

• Work both indoors and outdoors, including at construction sites.
• Occasional travel to off-site locations may be required.
• Overtime may be required based on operational needs.
• Appropriate personal protective equipment, including steel-toed safety boots, is required.
• Exposure to typical mechanical, industrial, and construction-related hazards.
