Job Description
The City of Toronto has released a notification inviting candidates for the post of Automotive Mechanic. The role involves providing maintenance and repairs to City vehicles and equipment using a variety of hand and power tools and equipment. Tasks include performing overhauls, engine tune-ups, diagnosing and repairing transmissions, clutches, front/rear axles, differentials, brake systems, drive lines, and more.

- Location: 843 Eastern Avenue, Eastern Yard
- Salary: $45.44 per hour
- Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Responsibilities
- Provide maintenance and repairs to City vehicles and equipment
- Utilize hand and power tools and equipment
- Perform overhaul, engine tune-ups, etc.
- Diagnose and repair transmissions, clutches, front/rear axles, differentials, brake systems, drive lines
- Perform inspections and safety checks
- Provide work direction and training to other staff
- Maintain accurate records
- Operate vehicles to move in and out of the garage, conduct road tests and road repairs
- Ensure health and safety regulations are met
- Perform other related work as assigned
Requirements
- Possess and maintain a kit of tools satisfactory to the Garage Supervisor as per Central Garage basic tool requirements
- Ability to work in a computerized environment
- Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations
- Physical strength to do the work
- Availability to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and on-call duty
- Experience to provide work direction and training to colleagues
