About the role
As an Automotive Technician, your main duties include diagnosing, testing, and repairing vehicle systems to ensure their security and functionality using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment. You will conduct preventative maintenance, inspect critical components like brakes, fuel systems, and engines, and repair or replace parts as necessary. You will also mentor apprentices and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform vehicle repairs and/or maintenance work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and OEM standards
- Communicate regularly with Parts and Service Advisors to effectively manage production/repairs, cycle times, and customer communication
- Conduct multi-point inspections and recommend repairs, ensuring the safety and reliability of vehicles before returning them to customers
- Document all work performed on vehicle repair orders consistent with OEM standards to ensure warranty work payment by manufacturers
- Maintain an inventory of common automotive technician's tools not usually inventoried by the Service department
- Keep current with factory technical bulletins and participate in factory-sponsored training classes as required
- Provide an exceptional repair experience to build customer loyalty and drive department revenue
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of various makes and models
- Provincially recognized Journeyman Automotive Mechanic Certificate, completed or in progress
- Red Seal Certification is an asset
- Completion of related post-secondary program or training courses
- Professional demeanor and strong work ethic
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
- Ability to work individually and with a team
- High level of integrity
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving history

The expected compensation range is $43.50 to $44.50 hourly — flat rate. Actual compensation depends on job-related knowledge, education, skills, and experience.
