Job Summary:

An automotive diagnostic consultant is responsible for guiding ALLDATA customers through automotive diagnostic and repair procedures via phone or web-based communication. The details of the diagnostic and repair cases can then be recorded in the Experience-Based Repair Solutions (EBRS) database. Automotive diagnostic consultants must maintain positive and lasting relationships with ALLDATA customers to ensure trust and create a solid foundation for ongoing customer loyalty.

Job Responsibilities - Other tasks may be assigned:

  • Verbally guide and assist ALLDATA Tech-Assist customers and prospects in vehicle diagnostics and repairs by providing expert automotive advice based on personal experience, collaboration, and research.

  • Contact customers to confirm that the guidance or solution provided has resolved the issue.

  • Use administrative tools to enter repair information into the system for future publication in the EBRS database.

  • Contribute suggested repairs to the ALLDATA community and monitor forum member posts for accuracy and adherence to forum guidelines.

  • General responsibilities: email communications, participation in meetings, committees, and other assigned tasks. Assist other individuals, groups, or departments as needed to support internal and external customers as well as company goals. Participate in software testing and any other project or special assignment as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • General education in automotive and/or diesel technology.

  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in automotive diagnostics and repair.

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of automotive diagnostic methodologies and functioning system strategies.

Preferred but not required:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent in automotive and/or diesel technology.

  • ASE L1 certification.

  • Experience as a shop owner/manager - ASE C1 Automotive Service Consultant certification.

  • Experience and training in manufacturer-specific diagnostics and repairs for European vehicles.

  • Experience in diagnostic and repair of light/medium diesel vehicles - ASE A9 and L2 certifications.
