About the role
The City of Toronto has released a notification inviting candidates for the post of Automotive Mechanic. They need to provide maintenance and repairs to City vehicles and equipment and utilise a variety of hand and power tools and equipment. Responsibilities
- Provide maintenance and repairs to City vehicles and equipment.
- Utilise a variety of hand and power tools and equipment.
- Perform overhauls, engine tune-ups, etc.
- Diagnose and effect repairs of transmissions, clutches, front/rear axles, differentials, brake systems, drive lines, etc.
- Perform inspections and safety checks.
- Provide work direction and training to other staff.
- Perform a variety of skilled work not requiring the service of other licensed trades.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Operate vehicles to move in and out of the garage, do road tests and road repairs.
- Ensure that health and safety regulations are met.
- Perform other related work as assigned.
- Perform skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of motive power, construction and assorted equipment.
Requirements
- Possess and maintain a kit of tools satisfactory to the Garage Supervisor and according to the basic tool requirements of the Central Garage.
- Be able to work in a computerised environment.
- Be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the regulations that apply to this work.
- Have the physical strength to do the work.
- Be available to work shifts/ weekend/ overtime/ on call duty.
- Have the experience to provide work direction and training to other colleagues.
